Catching Up

It’s been awhile since my last post. We’ve been busy bees the past several weeks! Here’s what’s been going on…
Anna
Fire ShowerIn my last post, I told you about Anna who lost everything in the recent fires. I’m happy to report that thanks to an outpouring of support from generous people across the country, she is slowly starting to recover.
The donations, combined with the bit of the insurance proceeds she received, were enough for her to replace her home…and with a larger and nicer model! Her new abode will be delivered next week.
She is still missing 2 dogs, but is hopeful they will eventually return. Two of her dogs perished in the fire, which is very sad.
Later this summer we’re planning a shower for her, but instead of a bridal or baby shower this will be a fire shower. I told her to start making a wish list of things she needs and we’ll pass that on. The date for the fire shower is Friday, August 1 from 4-9 so mark your calendar. You know us, we love to have a party!

May means the end of the school year, and all of the activities that go along with that. We’ve had a track meet, piano contest, talent show, award ceremony, and I can’t remember what else!

Stuff
And by stuff, I literally mean stuff! I have been fighting the battle of the bulging stuff. My grandmother moved last fall, then mom turned around and moved this winter. So much stuff has come my way, it started piling up everywhere. I cannot stand clutter, and really like to be able to walk through my office without tripping over a box. So the past few weeks I have been dealing with STUFF! It’s a good time to be around the shop when I’m decluttering – several things went home with admiring customers.
Creativity Camp for Kids

Bring on the munchkins! We’ve also been busy planning activities and gathering supplies for our series of classes for kids ages 7-12. Our first session begins on Monday, and includes:

Yarn Dying • Crochet • Sock Puppets • Weaving

We still have a spot or two left, so if you have a creative kid sign up today!
The camp is divided into 2 sessions. The first session is June 2-11, second session June 16-25. We meet Monday and Wednesdays from 10am to noon. In the second session the kids will learn finger knitting, tie dye, make beads and a fiber collage.
More details are available here.
Changing of the Guard
Annica has taken a 2nd job working as an artist. Since that is her chosen field, we are very excited for her. Never fear, she’s not leaving us. She’ll still be around on Mondays and Saturdays.
Lori has finished her temporary insanity return to teaching, and will be back in full swing in June. We are all doing the happy dance!
Laura will be teaching an awesome skirt class in a few weeks. She has an incredible ability to pair yarns and patterns and will be on hand to share her creativity with you.
Anna will be around helping with the Wednesday classes for kids, so we’ll be seeing more of her.

However I am taking a leave of absence for the month of June. Part of the reason I have been so busy is preparing for this. I didn’t take this much time to have a baby, however middle age is catching up with me so it is time for my “lady surgery”. I’m also getting a bladder lift out of the deal. While I am quite excited to not have to go pee every 30 minutes (I’m worse than a pregnant woman), I do fear chin waxing and personal cooling devices could be in my near future.
If you spend much time around me, you know I tend to take overachieving to a new extreme. Keeping me down for this long is not going to be easy. I know if I try to get out of the house and back to work I will overdo it. That’s just how I roll.

So I’ve resolved to become a hermit, catch up on General Hopsital and my Netflix queue, work on a new knitting design, and learn Spanish so I can impress others while in Mexico.
Don’t fear, I’m leaving you in very good hands. I’m sure I’ll drive everyone at the shop crazy checking in. You know I’ll get bored, but I’ll try not to annoy everyone with frequent, rambling (and possibly drug induced) posts.
Stay Tuned…
We have some awesome weekly Summer Specials planned for June. Our first deal posts here this Sunday, so don’t miss out.
And that’s all the news that’s fit to print!

Hey, Keely. We might enjoy being entertained by rambling, drug-induced posts!
