December 15: Luxe
I’m not a sparkle kind of gal, but I do dig a bit of shimmer and glisten. I first saw the Sol Luxe yarn with last spring’s collection, but the sophisticated colors and shimmer put me more in the mind of the holiday season.
When it came time to order yarn for the holidays, Sol Luxe was at the top of the list. It is a soft cotton ribbon yarn.
A decade ago furry novelty yarns reached a fever pitch, and like any other hot fad it came to a sudden and abrupt stop. Needless to say, we’ve worked hard to rid ourselves of the mountains of furry yarns that remained in the aftermath.
So everyone thought I’d lost my mind when I ordered this –
It was time. Astoria has a very soft glisten, and I do have to admit is much nicer to knit with than other furry counterparts. It really wasn’t a bother at all, and I rarely can say that about this type yarn.
Still shellshocked from the last furry frenzy, I have to admit I was less than enthused about Astoria’s impending arrival. But when I unpacked the box, I saw this:
These two seemingly unrelated yarns were destined to meet! While each are beautiful on their own, together they are just fabulous. Both are European imports from Lang Yarns.
Since I’ve been busy knitting a stocking for a stray cat, Annica visioned the two worked up in a hat. Here’s the final result:
Today, this Luxe Hat pattern is our free gift for you. Everyone needs a bit of luxe during the holidays!
