December 16 – Knit Out Finale

This year’s Knit Out will be the last. We’ve had a fantastic 13 year run with our event, but after much consideration I decided it was time to do something new. Rather than go out with a whimper, it will end with a big bang.
So if you’ve been meaning to attend “some day”, this is the year to come!
We are featuring the fabulous Fiona Ellis, Franklin Habit and Susanna Hansson.
Franklin & Fiona were here 2 years ago. We just couldn’t get enough of them so I had to have them back one more time.  Susanna has been on my list of people I’ve wanted to invite for years, and I am so happy she will be coming. She is one incredible instructor!Knit Out
When we started this event back in 2001, it was a huge success. People from across the United States and Canada flocked to Guthrie. Back then there were huge events (like Stitches), small appearances by a single instructor in a yarn shop, and few events in between.
We managed to put together a first-class event with three well-known instructors that had all of the grandness of a big event, but in a relaxed environment. We have watched many life-long friendships formed during this event.
Knit Out
As with any great idea, it becomes replicated. Many current events have been modeled after our Knit Out. When innovation becomes lost in this crowd, it is time to do something new.
In the interim, we are going to put everything we have into this final Knit Out. Next year is going to be a huge year for us in that we will be celebrating our 20th year in business, so it will be one big celebration after another. More on that soon.
We truly want you to come and experience the Knit Out with us, so today we are making a special offer to you.
We are giving away coupons that can be redeemed for one of the following:

  • $50 off any new Knit Out registration, May 17-19
  • Ticket to Franklin Habit presentation and dinner on Friday, May 17
  • Ticket to fashion show and dinner on Saturday, May 18

Knit OutThe fine print: Coupons may be presented with any registration through January 15, 2013. For full registrations, applicable non-refundable deposits must be paid at the time of registration. Coupon and accompanying registration may only be redeemed by you, and may not be transferred to another person.
If you would like to receive one of these golden tickets, simply comment to this post. If you have been to our Knit Out in the past, please share what you like the most. If this will be your first time, then just tell us that.
The coupons, along with this deal will be available until January 15, 2013 so don’t delay. Treat yourself to a fabulous knitting weekend.
You can see all of the celebrity instructors who have visited SWAK over the years on our website. It is quite an impressive list.
Hope you will join us in May!

I’ve enjoyed attending Knit Outs since 2010, when I resumed knitting after a 40+ year hiatus (learned as a child, but wasn’t really interested until recently). I was awed at getting to meet Genuine Famous People, learn new skills and techniques from them, and get to know them a little.
SWAK — the people, the wonderful yarn, and all the workshops and events — continues to fuel my my joy in knitting. Thank you for a wonderful 13-year Knit Out run!

Franklin Habit is an INCREDIBLE teacher! I took his photography class and learned SO much! My pictures of my knitted items are so much better, thanks to Franklin. Love him!

I love Knit Outs. So many people who understand my obsession, have the same obsession, and think the people we are seeing are celebrities(unlike the people in the outside world). Can wait for this year.

I have been to several knit outs; I loved every one. I was appropriately awed by the knitterati and loved the food, too.
I was so impressed with Cookie A. She helped me decide what to try with knee length Pomatomus socks.
I learned a LOT from each class I took, and had such a great time!

I’ve dreamed of attending the knit-out for years. I thought it would be a great birthday present to me as my birthday is in May. Alas, it seems end of school events have prevented me coming, even for a day. Friday might be possible this coming year though, as granddaughter’s birthday party will be either Sat. or Sun. Here’s hoping, fingers crossed!

I was on vacation when this one appeared. Thought it was only good for the date it appeared. However since I always go to knitout I can certainly use the coupons
