December 20: Yakety Yak
Exotic fiber is definitely the theme for the season. We’ve seen bison, cashmere, vicuña and now yak!
Why yak? It is warmer than wool, yet as soft as cashmere. Durable and lightweight, yak is completely odorless, does not shed and maintains warmth – even when wet! Throw in non-allergenic and non-irritating, and what more could you want?
You really must come in and feel Lhasa! This beautiful blend of cashmere and yak is from the Pure Bliss Collection, a new line of luxury yarns from designer Debbie Bliss. It is everything you imagine it could be and more!
Naturally, Debbie has a great booklet with patterns featuring Lhasa.
Arietta from Classic Elite Yarns blends fine merino and yak for a squishable luxury yarn in a range of soft colors, with a nice collection of patterns to knit and crochet.
We have a couple of FREE patterns for you today featuring Arietta, courtesy of Classic Elite Yarns. Click on the photos below to download your free pattern.
And because I think everyone needs to experience yak, we are giving away a cabled hat kit today featuring Arietta. Simply tell us which color you’d like to win. Click here to see the colors. I’ll randomly select one lucky winner. You have until midnight tonight.
Classic Elite finally has corrected their pattern downloading issue, so if you missed out on any of the free patterns featuring Camelot or Wildwood you should be able to access them now.

20.12.2016 at 02:49They all look really nice. I think I’ll be different from my normal choice and choose the blue “Lake” color if I am the lucky one. Thank you for the patterns. The Debbie Bliss book looks wonderful.

20.12.2016 at 07:07Several years ago, I made some fingerless mitts for a friend using Bijou Basin Ranch’s “Bijou Bliss,” a mixture of yak and cormo — which, coincidentally, I named “Yakety Yak Mitts” in my Ravelry projects! Great minds think alike. 🙂
One of the buildings I work in (I split my time between two) is a poorly insulated modular building, where my hands are always like ice cubes. I would love to make myself a pair of fingerless mitts in the “Lake” color!

20.12.2016 at 23:12Antique Teal! Oh just love all those ideas! But if there is enough for a Jat there is enough for a neck warmer!
