December 22 – Hello, is there anybody out there?

Mayan CalendarIt is now midnight on the 22nd of December and as far as I can tell, everyone is still here at my hacienda. I’d say the Mayans got it wrong, but it’s just whoever came up with this latest end-of-the-world hooey.
During the Knit Out in 2011 we were supposed to be raptured. To the best of my knowledge, no one in our group vanished then either.
With all this Mayan hoopla going on, it has me dreaming of Santa whisking me off for another week in the Riviera Maya but I’ll be doing good to get the le Creuset roasting pan that’s been on my list for over 2 years.

I circled the size and color with a bold marker in a chef’s catalog several months ago, with lots of arrows and a note saying “momma wants new pan”, but I’m not sure if that will do the trick. He keeps asking what I want him to buy me. Seriously? Do I really have to come out and say it?
Riviera Maya
Santa had better deliver, at least on the pan or Mrs. Claus is going to buy it for herself as an anniversary treat.
If I were Oprah, I would give everyone a le Creuset French oven and a week vacation for two to Riviera Maya. Unfortunately being a lowly yarn peddler isn’t as profitable as a media mogul.
So you’ll just have to settle for today’s prize showcase.
Prize #1
MayaI nearly forgot that I had a sweater design called Maya. I’ve designed over 150 color work sweaters so it’s easy to lose track. Unlike my other crazy picture sweater designs this one has less difficulty, some really cool design elements, and a more contemporary look.
Download the Maya pattern today…it will be raptured gone tomorrow.

SoakboxPrize #2
What are you hoping Santa brings you on Christmas Day?
One lucky person will win a Soakbox in the cuff au lait colorway.
Designed by Fiona Ellis, one of our favorite friends who was not raptured during her last visit to Oklahoma.
Post your comment today. I’ll randomly select a winner at midnight.
Thought I’d leave you today with a little 2012 entertainment.

The only thing I am asking for this year is a Amazon gift card for the Kindle I got for my birthday.

I wanted shearling slippers from ll.bean. I wanted something to keep my feet warm as I sit in my sewing room and knit, knit, knit.
Thank you for my cute goody bag. It will make a nice project bag for my daughter!! Thank you so much!

I am hoping for a new sewing machine. I’ve been quilting a bit lately, and my $50 Walmart machine is not totally up for the challenge.

Hilarious take on the Mayan apocalypso. I would be thrilled if Santa brought a new fence for the backyard. Wait, how about yarn, lots of yarn? Or needles. More needles.
I’m not so keen on warm vacations so if Santa wanted to whisk me off to Paris, that’s be swell.

I am hoping that Santa brings some peace for this tired momma. More than anything else, I am hoping for a day with just me and my husband and kids and maybe some time for a nice nap. : )

A SWAK gift card would be nice! I agree with hthrldwg. I kept hinting to my husband but I don’t think he understood the “hints.”

Thanks for the Mayan video. I had forgotten about a lot of the things that happened this year! I would LOVE a new convection oven – my old gas one is too small for a family of five. Not in Santa’s price range though so I asked for some needles.

Even my 6 yr old granddaughter was confident that the end of the world was so much hoo-eey. She stated that the Mayan just got tired and didn’t want to find a bigger stone to carve.
I’m doing some last minute knitting for the 2 yr old granddaughter, a combination doll bassinet/purse. I crocheted several of these when I was a teenager for gifts. I don’t have a baby-doll to add, but since she already has several sizes, from very small to very large, I’m counting on one of them fitting.
    Merry Christmas everyone!

Hilarious. Just came out of the bunker to find myself yet even further behind!
Here’s hoping that your husband ‘gets it’ this year. Did you tell him there is a whole LeCreuset store at the Outlet Mall?
I think I’d like Santa to bring me a robot housekeeper – you know, like on the Jetsons. And while I’m on the subject, just where is my flying car?
    Merry Christmas to all!
