December 3 – Pie Fun
We’re getting geared up for our Pie Party on Saturday! The fun begins at 1 and continues through the evening. We’ll be open until 8pm the next two Saturdays for Victorian Walk.
This weekend we’ll feature Karen Sullivan. She will be demonstrating nalbinding and spinning. I believe she is bringing her great wheel, which should interest those of you who spin. She is an amazing artisan.
The Victorian Walk and Karen’s demonstrations begin at 4pm It is going to be a very fun day!
Our pie party is going to be quite a treat. If you love making pies and would like to bring one to share – please do. If you just like eating pies, come on in and eat. I will be making mini-pies.
I am not an expert pie maker, but I have been honing my skills. I highly recommend the Perfect Pie Crust recipe from Ina Garten’s new cookbook. My latest pie left a lot to be desired, but the crust was excellent. Since I got the hard part right, I am confident that Coconut Cream Pie, take 2 will be divine.
Today I have a special treat for everyone. I am giving away one $25 gift card to one lucky winner.
All you have to do put your name in the hat for the drawing is tell us what is your favorite pie by leaving a comment on this post. Comments close at midnight tonight!

03.12.2012 at 10:21Well, as a kid growing up my favorite was always cherry pie. One time I picked up a piece of rhubarb from a cafeteria line thinking it was cherry. Boy howdy, was I disappointed!!!

03.12.2012 at 13:34Apple pie is my favorite — we had some apple trees when I was growing up, so my mother had to come up with a variety of ideas for using them.

03.12.2012 at 18:05Definitely key lime pie. Every time I go to Florida, I get at least one whole pie and pretty much devour it in 2 days (what am I saying – one night!)

03.12.2012 at 19:26Pecan pie made by my grandma was my all time favorite. She had pecan trees on her property and we would help her gather the pecans, help her shell the pecans, and also help bake the pie. She only used the whole halves in the pie, no pieces. When baked, the perfect half pieces looked as though they were purposely placed. The inner side of the pecan floated up, and there seemed to be perfect radius’ from middle to edge. 🙂 Yum!

04.12.2012 at 08:17My favorite pie is coconut pecan pie. It is traditional pecan pie made with maple syrup instead of corn syrup and coconut added with the pecan halves. I got the recipe about 25 years ago and my family insists on this pie at every holiday.

04.12.2012 at 18:55My favorite pie is my great aunt’s pumpkin pie recipe. The recipe must be over 100 years old by now. Every time I bake one it reminds me of family gatherings when I was a child and I remember all the sweet faces of family members long gone.

04.12.2012 at 19:34My favorite pie is the lemon ice-box pie my grandmother used to make when I was a little girl. I’ve made a couple as an adult but my daughters are not big lemon fans so I never make them anymore.

07.12.2012 at 09:40My favorite pie would be my mom’s Mince-meat pie. This was something that she made special every Thanksgiving and Christmas for my Dad and me because we were the only ones who liked it. In the past 2 years with her age and illness it became easier to just buy a Brahm’s Pecan Pie, which everyone would eat, and I do admit, Brahm’s makes a very good Pecan Pie. This being the first Thanksgiving and Christmas without her I think I will be dreaming of that Mince-meat pie and helping Mom make it.
