December 9 – Simple Gifts

Sometimes simple little gifts are the best. Today we have a crochet pattern that takes a few minutes and can be made with scraps of yarn left in your stash.
Candy canes are a simple and inexpensive way to share a little holiday cheer, so why not dress it up with a touch of crochet!
Today’s pattern is courtesy of Anna, our resident hooker.  Anna was quite a life saver when Lori was injured while I was on vacation, but she too has been laid up with medical woes.  She had surgery last month and is on the mend.
You’ll be able to catch Anna next weekend as our featured spinner during next Saturday’s Victorian Walk.
No rush to download the Cute Crochet Candy Cane Holder pattern, it will be sticking around (pun totally intended).
With every candy cane given to a small child, the mom should get a complimentary Wet One.
Now that would be a sweet deal!

I will have to make some of these. It will be a good crochet refresher. I have 2 shoe boxes of needlepoint wool my mother-in-law obtained at an estate sale many years ago. Lots of shades of greens & red, + some gold I think. If I get busy now, maybe I’ll have enough for my entire extended family!
I remember making 40 of the horse heads cut from craft felt with yarn cut for the mane, & googly eyes, for my daughter’s classroom one year. I didn’t want to see another one for a while. Also have made reindeer with chenille pipe-cleaner for antlers, googly eyes and a red pompom for the nose.
