homeWords can not begin to express what we’re going through in Oklahoma right now. Oftentimes we tend to over-exaggerate events, with expressive words like massive and horrific. These words just don’t seem to be expressive enough when describing yesterday’s tragic events.
We have received several emails and messages from friends out of state concerned for our safety. For those unfamiliar with the area, those of us at SWAK are okay and not near the damaged area. I fear I can not say the same for many friends and customers.
Our community is in shock, waiting for our friends in the affected area to check in. Considering the widespread landline and cellular phone outages, we just simply have to wait. We are 45 miles away from the devastation, yet have no phone service at the store.
So if you try to call and can not get through, rest assured that we are okay. The shop is open and will continue to be open our regular hours, 10am to 5pm. Please email, send us a Facebook message, or text us at if you need to get ahold of us.
Or stop on by – getting together with others is a good thing to do at a time like this. If you are in need of fellowship or a place to go, please come in and see us. We’d be happy for the company.
I had hoped to share tales of our big weekend with Fiona, Franklin and Susanna with you today, but in light of these events that will have to wait for another day. All did make it home safely, including those attending our event.
redcrossIf you are wondering what you can do to help, please donate to the Red Cross. No donation is too small. I once worked in finance at the OKC chapter and saw first hand the incredible ways they are able to assist those affected by disasters. Additionally, they can turn your donation into much, much more than you can do otherwise on your own.
It’s easy – simply text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Text once, twice, or as many times as you can afford.
Oklahoma Strong!
