Feeling Artsy

We’re gearing up for Art Walk this Saturday featuring our upstairs artist Beth Loftin and master weaver Donna Hilton. It is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, so come up Saturday from 4 to 8 for a really fun evening.
In other news, I have a free pattern for you today!
Bella Linobellalino
This fringed summery scarf is knit with just 2 skeins of Bella Lino, a beautiful linen/cotton blend yarn. Its long harmonious stripes will make you feel very artsy. You can download the pattern here.
I took a before/after picture while blocking my scarf.
Look what a difference blocking made, especially with the fringe. Not to sound like your mother nagging you to iron your pants or anything, but you really need to block your stuff!
Speaking of art, one of my favorite artists is Red Hong Yi. If you’re not familiar with her work, it will blow your mind! She’s from Malaysia, and works with unconventional objects.
Among my favorites are her portraits of Aung San Suu Kyi made from 2,000 dyed carnations and Yao Ming painted with a basketball. Watch her videos – they are so cool!
We’ve got a fun group assembled for our Mexico vacation. While we’re there, we’ll see another cool artist who uses spray paint and a blow torch. I love to watch him work. It’s not too late to join us!
