December 23: Merry Christmas, Mate!
I have Australia on my mind today, and this colorful new yarn from The Queensland Collection.
Perth, available in a rainbow of two-at-a-time color shifting shades, works up beautifully for socks, accessories, garments, and more!
Jeannie just finished this gorgeous Taiga Shawl, crocheted with 3 skeins of Perth. It is a FREE download on Ravelry, courtesy of Mijo Crochet.
Queensland has several nice patterns to knit featuring Perth:
The Aurelia Cowl is knit with just one skein of Perth, in a simple rippling lace pattern. The pattern is available as a Raverly download.
The beautiful Clariss Wrap works up with two skeins of Perth. You can also get this pattern at Ravelry.
Perth is also beautiful for colorful, lightweight garments. The Rosa Cardigan, with a lace sleeve and a high side slit is available on Raverly, worked with 4-5 skeins of Perth. Personally I’d make the side slit less, well less slitty, but that’s just me.
While I know I’m not alone in dreaming for a white Christmas, can you imagine living in the southern hemisphere and have Christmas fall smack-dab in the middle of summer? They have no hope of a white Christmas, although seeing Santa on a surfboard would be pretty cool.
Today one of you can win two skeins of Perth, along with the Clariss Wrap pattern. Simply state in the comments which color of Perth you’d like to win – you can see the colors here, complete with very down-under names. You have until midnight!
Sorry, drawing is over!

Your surfing Santa has plenty of white for his Christmas…just happens to be the surf instead of snow!

23.12.2018 at 13:41Hard choice but I like Alice Springs the best. I was lucky to go to Australia and New Zealand in July 1981. The sheep shearing show and buying yarn with lots of natural lanolin were two of my favorite memories. Did not make it to Alice Springs as it is very remote!
