Mirasol Yarns arrived this week and we are quite excited! Not only are these Peruvian alpacas absolutely gorgeous, you’re going to love what this company is all about.
Peru is known for its outstanding alpaca, and much of the world’s supply of this fiber comes from the Peruvian highlands.
While on a visit to the area a European buyer noticed the difficulties the children faced getting to school. Many had to walk two to three hours every day just to get to school, then walk another two to three hours to return home.
They set out to construct a boarding house so the children could stay at school during the week, making it much easier on the children and their families. To accomplish this goal Mirasol Yarns was formed. Partnering with Norwegian, Canadian, British, Spanish, and American yarn distributors, a portion of the profits funded construction of the boarding house.
Paqu Pura
The cooperative was successful and the children now have a boarding house. The company is now working on building more school facilities, greatly improving the quality of life for children of the farmers who raise these glorious alpacas. Beautiful yarns with a wonderful story and purpose!

Fall is nearly here and fun new yarns continue to arrive. We’re anxiously awaiting a huge shipment from Blue Sky Alpacas next week, including over a dozen samples on loan in¬†Extra and Metallico yarns.
