Sally Melville returns to SWAK!
Guthrie Getaway Weekend
featuring Sally Melville
November 2-4, 2018
That’s right, the incredible Sally Melville will be making a return visit to Guthrie this November. If you have never had the opportunity to experience a workshop with Sally Melville, you are missing out. No one can inspire and excite you quite like Sally!
This will be Sally’s fourth visit to SWAK, as the featured instructor for our Guthrie Getaway event. When I developed the concept behind this unique getaway, my goal was for you to experience incredible instructors like Sally in a intimate weekend-long setting. I can promise you that Sally will not disappoint.
We’ll kick off the weekend on Friday evening with a gala dinner and special presentation from Sally on the importance of working with our hands. Why Do We Do What We Do speaks to what knitting (or other hand work) offers, and it is a wonderful feeling to understand why we love to do what we do!
Over the course of the weekend Sally will present a series of workshops including:
- Essential Skills
- Knit to Flatter and Fit
- First Choices, Basic Shapes
This trio of workshops will expand the techniques in your repertoire, help you choose the right pattern, and offer diagnostic skills to produce the best possible result.
The workshops will be held in an informal and intimate setting at the Magnolia Moon, one of Guthrie’s most architecturally unique settings. We’ll also treat you to culinary delights as you enjoy fellowship and inspiration while expanding your knitting knowledge and talent.
Space is very limited. This event is nearly full from last year’s pre-registrations. We only have a handful of spots remaining!

When putting together scrapbooks for our 25th Anniversary, I stumbled upon this great picture of Sally and Mason playing a song on the piano. He was only 5 at the time and had just started lessons. I can’t wait for him to play for her in November. He received another I at piano contest a few weekends ago and will be going to state again next month.
