The finest of yarn weights, lace weight yarns are often worked loosely on larger needles than stated on the label for open and lacy looks. This results in a broad range of gauges, making an exact gauge range difficult to determine. Also included in the lace weight family are yarns designed to be carried together with larger yarns to add effects such as sequins, etc.
